The LOCKDOWN

Sorry for being 2 weeks late on this blog but, anyway... To the blog!

As you might have already experienced on Friday, all of the schools in Christchurch went into lockdown. Luckily, the internet was still on but only for a short amount of time. Later on they put on Despicable Me 2 on the TV.
(Excuse the darkness.)
You might have seen on the news what had happened. But during the time in the lockdown, we enjoyed it best as we could as we didn't know what was happening. We had paper that we could draw on to pass the time. My feelings were very emotional like I wasn't going to see my mother again, and having to wait at school for 3 1/2 more hours than usual, that was worrying. That was all of the information I have. Please send me some feedback if you know more about this.

Dot plot graphs

This week in Rimu, we were working on Dot plots and bar graphs. It is probably an easier way to do a graph. it is very simple. make an equation that needs a chart. then get a chart and make the percents in dots. Here is an example :

Robert, a Year 8 student at Roosevelt Middle School, usually goes to bed
around 10:00 p.m. and gets up around 6:00 a.m. to get ready for school.
That means that he gets about 8 hours of sleep on a school night.
He decided to investigate the statistical question: How many hours per
night do 6th graders usually sleep when they have school the next day?

Robert took a survey of other Year 8 children and collected the following
data to answer the question:
7 8 5 9 9 9 7 7 10 10 11 8 8 8 12 6 11 10 8 8 9 9 9 8 10 9 9 8

Robert decided to make a dot plot of the data to help him answer his
statistical question. Make a dot plot with Robert’s data.

(5 weeks ago) My first day at Manual

Every year in Rimu, the year 7 and 8 go to Lincon School to do Technology for 3 hours. We do woodworks, textiles, science and 3 other things I forget. I do wood works and we make things with wood. It is a very big school and is year 1-8 as well. It is very fun and exciting to be there. We are working on speaker boxes. If you know more, please give me some feedback.

My published Autobiography

This week in Rimu, we have been writing our own Autobiographies. An Autobiography is a story about the author's life and what's happened to them. So that's what i'm blogging about.
Here it is :

Autobiographies are based on a timeline from when you were first born to the now. You also mention your future dreams and wishes. If you liked this then please give me some feedback and try your own. See you next time!

1 x 25
5 x 5
25 x 1
Infinite amount of - possibilities.

5 + 20
6 + 19
7 + 18
8 + 17
9 + 16
10 + 15
11 + 14
12 + 13
You're half way there!
13 + 12
14 + 11
15 + 10
16 + 9
17 + 8
18 + 7
19 + 6
20 + 5
21 + 4
22 + 3
23 + 2
24 + 1
25 + 0

A Cyborg in Rimu Class!

Yesterday in Rimu, a very special visitor! His name was Richard and was Mrs Taylor's husband. He had his left arm chopped off in a hay machine when he was 17 years old. First he had a two pronged hook and was called Captain Hook. Recently, they made a hand for him 3 weeks ago.

His thumb worked like a joystick.

He told us that it was bluetooth and had several different modes. It was really cool!

In the end we got to hold his hand and shake. It was the coolest day of my life!

Home Learning Blog.

Suggest a 3 materials to use to make a house for the 3 little pigs. I would suggest stone base layer, Concrete walls, and steel roof. I think this because stone is a common base layer because it is a strong material to use. concrete because it is strong against wind, rain ect and stays in place for years. steel roof because it will be suitable for a wolf to stand on but is not very grippy so the wolf falls off.

Swimming Sports/Races

Hello everyone. I am back with a new blog post and..., Welcome toooo, 2019! As you may have seen from the title of the post, Rimu class had swimming relays. I was racing in 1 lap freestyle and so I had to wait for ever and ever because there was so many other races. I was in a group of three and I was racing against Dion and Layton. I came last but at least I tried.

Here are some photos of the races :

There was a lot of races and we all co-operated in a race and got it done. Over all it was very fun and exciting. Good job to the racers!
