Building Tiny Houses!

This week in Rimu was maths week! For maths week, we had to make a tiny house with area & perimeter. We had a draft of the house so we had an idea for the design. There was mini furniture, a roof, walls, a door, and windows. I even got an award yesterday for all the minor little details that I had made. I made such a cool house with brick walls, which was going to be wooden, a chimney, windows with bushes, and textured grass!

I am really proud of all the effort that I put into this house.

 It's not maths week without math, is it? We had some area & perimeter. Say if I had a shape that would be a 2x3 shape, that would be the area. The perimeter is when we add all the sides together, it would be 3+3+2+2 which equals 10. Try this at home and have some fun! Maybe get some parent help with the scissors.

Teachers On Strike!

Teachers all across NZ are on a strike for a better payment on Wednesday 15th August 2018.

What is a strike? A strike is "a refusal to work organized by a body of employees as a form of protest, typically in an attempt to gain a concession or concessions from their employer." 

So what do teachers want? There's at least 3000 Christchurch teachers calling for a 16 percent pay rise over two years, and improved working conditions.

Why do they want it? Teachers don`t get payed enough for what they do because of the long hours they work and how it affects their life. People who`d like to be a teacher wouldn't because the pay is too low. So that means that there won't be any new teachers for the future.

I think that teachers should get payed fairly and get more time to spend with their families.

The Christchurch Brick Show!

This year at the CBS 2018, we have been building for the last month or so to pull off these amazing creations for the show on Sat 14th-Sun 15th of July. I had made the very first model that I'd never destroyed for a show! this may have only made this in 2-3 weeks for this to be built but, I'm still proud of myself! Give me some feedback on what I've made & check out my school blog.

T3 Math DLO

It's T3 already?!? Well in Rimu 2018 we've been answering some very hard questions this week. there were even algebra questions in the slide! Here is all of the work I have done! The Red writing is my answers to the questions. What it means that start from Yellow to Blue to Orange is to start from the lowest level to the highest level.

My T2 Reflection

This is the 3rd term I have been at this school and I just did my T2 Refection on the last day of school! Check it out below!

This term what worked well for me was that I have had several tests that went well in

results because I moved up in some things but not others.

What I am proud of this term is that my Mom and I set some goals for me and this term, and if I completed those goals, I would get something like for example, a Lego set which I am getting for this term.

I have shown my YMS HERO qualities by receiving HERO cards for being a
Healthy Individual, an Enthusiastic Learner, a Responsible Citizen, and an
Open-Minded Explorer throughout the years I have stayed.

There are some things that haven’t gone well for me such as being told off, ignoring the
Teachers, behavior form, not getting my full HERO reward times because I didn’t finish
my work in the time given.

Through this term, pretty much everything was a challenge for me. Because I have not
been doing my long writes for a while means that the long writes that will be set won’t
be finished in time, but I did get through them eventually.

My focus for next term will probably be to finish all my work in time to get my full
HERO reward duration and work o getting more HERO cards.

YMS Certificate!

Today was the first time I have ever gotten a HERO card certificate at my new school, YMS! 20 points for me!
