Building Tiny Houses!

This week in Rimu was maths week! For maths week, we had to make a tiny house with area & perimeter. We had a draft of the house so we had an idea for the design. There was mini furniture, a roof, walls, a door, and windows. I even got an award yesterday for all the minor little details that I had made. I made such a cool house with brick walls, which was going to be wooden, a chimney, windows with bushes, and textured grass!

I am really proud of all the effort that I put into this house.

It's not maths week without math, is it? We had some area & perimeter. Say if I had a shape that would be a 2x3 shape, that would be the area. The perimeter is when we add all the sides together, it would be 3+3+2+2 which equals 10. Try this at home and have some fun! Maybe get some parent help with the scissors.

  1. Hi there Teegan, my name is Toby from Waikowhai Primary school.
Your house looked amazing! How did you make all the little furniture? I saw the little pictures on the windows, one looks like there's a Pohutukawa outside and the other window has a nice view of the pastures outside.
This reminded me of when my class built baskets for easter and we got chocolate eggs! The baskets were made in the same way as your house.
