Pet Day is Over

Last week, m&m the whole school had a Pet Day! It was a very fun day in the school and best of all, We got to bring our Pets! In the morning, we had to make either a sand saucer or a veggie sculpture. I made a sand saucer butt, knowing me, I forgot everything. (LOL!) Even my hat I forgot! At Least that wasn't my piggy. I said to much! I spoiled the surprise! You probably know from A Piggy Full Story that I have a Guinea Pig, Right? Well that's who I brang to Pet Day. The first thing the whole school did together was watch duck herding. After was a sheep being sheared of it's wooll. Then we had our house sports contest had to do was bale jumping, rolling a tire, sack raceing, boot throwing, hobby horses and potatoe in a cup. Then It was time for the cuteness! Here is some pics of the show and some of the animals that were there!

This was me and my little black friend in my arms looking round because, he could smell the herbs and silverbeet that was growing in our school garden! Note: It's not Guini Pig, it's Guinea Pig! Silly Parwin! Shout out to Parwin! She was a judge. Look at her cool blog!

Pet Day Is So Close...!

Pet Day is So Close...! Infact, Pet Day is on This Friday Afternoon! We will have some of the cutest pets at the show! There will be several competitions and prizes to be won! Students from all classes will make either a sand saucer or a vegetable sculpture and hobby horses before the show. There is also a cash only coffee cart and a free sausage sizzle on the court. there is also going to be a parade with all of the student's pets holding, while walking around in a circle, showing the pets to the wonderful parents that will be there!

My Very Silly Story

On Thursday, Rimu had Book Character Day! We had to come dressed up as our favorite book character. Anyway, thats not the point. We made a story that had to include us as a character. We had two choices, make a new story, or input us in a already known story. I chose to make my own. It was really stupid and funny. Here is my story.

In a land far far away there was a kid named Teegan the Fat and Ugly guy and a guy who owns a business. His name was Trump the wall, And there was a green Teletubby named Shrek.

All of a sudden, Green Teletubby named Shrek Farted up the chimney Indo from Claustrophobic Miss cuz died and miss cut So then Teegan the fat and ugly guy does Does not like looking like Madame tea.

Trump the wall built a wall in the wall on the wall with the wall beside the wall.And beside that wall he built a love you more and he farted in it is he was Claustrophobic aside from heard from you and then he could be green Teletubby named Shrek.

Within moments, red yellow and purple Teletubby  came to rescue the green Teletubby named Shrek. He was knocked out for 10 hours but then when Teegan the fat and ugly guy woke up from his coma he felt ugly and bought some potato chips from Burger King. Then Trump the wall got a job at BK. Hunter don't judge me. That was his friend’s name on his name tag.

Then Teegan the fat ugly guy burped in Trump the wall’s face and then, files from the roof and lands and potato fryer. That's when the staff give him free coupons for a year. After that, Green Teletubby named Shrek was killed from an explosive cow C4 that he put in his fridge that stored more explosive watermelons.

I was Teegan the Fat and Ugly Guy. I told you it was Really stupid! It was so funny, even my Teachers laughed at it! If you think it is funny, comment down below.

Hooked On Books Week - Term 4

This week in Rimu, It's............, Hooked On Books Week! Hooked On Books Week is when we have new books in a box for our library shelves. We have already un boxed 3 very exciting books.(Sarcasm.) The 3 books that we have received are : Liars, The Goldfish Boy, and Laugh Your Head Of 4 Ever. Here are some pics of the books.

They were all pretty interesting books but I have no feeling for books. This happens every last 2 terms of the year. We are always excited for new books! Can't wait for next year! See you in 2019!

It's Almost Here...!

It's Almost Here...! Can you believe it?!? It's the 15 of November! That can only mean one thing, and only one... It's a Month and a quarter before Christmas! We've still got 4-5 weeks or so left of school, but who cares!?! This is a time where everyone is so excited because Christmas is sooo close. Students don't even want to work anymore. They just want to play an education game to try and be first on the leaderboards. That's what they're doing! The last term of school is almost done but we've still got things planned for the rest like Pet Day on the 30th of November, and lots of other fun activities and things to do!

E-asttle Recount

On Friday, Rimu had to do an E-asttle Writing test about what we have done well. That means that whatever we think we've done good at, we have to write about it. I wrote about when I learned how to Ski at Mt Hut Ski Resort. Here is my excellent piece of writing. :)

It Was a Lot of Fun both writing this and remembering what it felt like to ski for my very first time! I wish that I could go again with my Mom and Dad to teach them how to ski as well! It is a moment I will never ever forget for the rest of my entire life!

Inquiry-Waste Not Want Not.

For the past term in Rimu, we have been learning about Waste Not Want Not. This Inquiry topic is about rubbish and pollutions around the world and everything else to do with rubbish. We had to make a workbook for all of our facts and information. When we get to the point when we have to make a poster, it has to look something like this...(disclaimer, it looks like this because that is my topic.) Here is my poster.---> The picture on the side is too small so here is the picture in its full size.--->That is it! The real Rainbow Warrior In its full size! If you can still remember the "Digi Awards 2018!?" post, this is the real boat that I went to see! The whole story from this fabulous adventure is,  the "My Not So Boring Holidays" post to find out more! Anyway, It was a little feature in my poster and it has a Facts Section about the boat. once we've finished with the poster, we make our own inquiry project. I can't wait to finish this poster!

Inquiry WOW Project (World of Wearable Arts)

For the next 3 weeks, Rimu will be working on some Recycled costumes. We have three themes,: Nature, Cultural, Space, Underwater and, Future. My group is working on a planet orbitation

YMS Pet Show!

Every year at YMS, we hare a pet show in the middle of Term 4! All of the students from the classes will bring either a stuffed animal or their family's pet! As for me, I have a Cat and a Guinea Pig! The Cat is physically scared of everything so I don't bring her. The animals that are there usually are Cats, Horses/Ponies, Sheep, Goats, Guinea Pigs, and Dogs! We'll be delighted to see all of the wonderful animals! We'll be looking forward to seeing all of your pets!

Athletics Day!

Next week on Friday, it's Athletics Day! Fun Fact, the yr6 Girls standard is 1m, & Boys is 1.10m! In Athletics Day is a day when we have to do long, high jump, shot put, discus, and sprints. Every 1st and 4th term, every school has to do all of those things and only the best may win and move on Zones. Zones is where you compete with other children from other schools compete against each other to win! I myself have never made it to Zones so I wouldn't know what it is like. Probably exhausting. Anyway

My Not So Boring Holidays

1st Week back to school! So that means I have to post more...well, Posts. In my holidays I went to do something that other people wouldn't be able to do. I went with my parents to tour the Greenpeace Rainbow  Warrior! FYI, we only did this because she supports Greenpeace. We got to know why the other RW got blown up. Apparently, a French spy was on board so they could hear their plans against France. so they put 2 bombs in the ships hull. That's what happened. Anyway, we saw the control room, the deck, & break room. On the deck, there was a speedboat & a helipad. Before the tour, we got a print on some shirts. On the print, it said "MAKING OIL HISTORY" Because Jacinda Ardern said no more to new oil drilling exhibitions. Overall, it was exciting. If you remember the digi awards post, that was the boat. Please give me some feedback on this post.

Pixel World

This week in Rimu, the house teams had our rewards. For our reward, we had internet day. What I and Kade Thomson made a pixel art world on google sheets. Here is a pic of the whole layout. (Check out his Blogger!)

We also added in a link for each house and a separate interior. The links will teleport you to the sheet without clicking the sheet manually. It's a great little shortcut for lazy people. Not that I am Lazy or anything. I would like to hear what your creations look like in the comments. Please give some feedback if you liked this.

My 480 Word Narrative Pre Test

Today in Rimu, we had to write a Narrative for a Pre Test. First, we had to write a draft of our Narrative, Then we had to proofread and edit the draft. In my case, adding more writing. After that, we then had to publish it not once, but twice. 1 of which is a real publishing, and the second we had to add pictures to the writing. Here is my second publish.

A Piggy-ful Story

This is another story for my LPG. He is a very old Piggy but a very sad time has to come for everything and person. Which is death. Sadly after a 3-4 year life which to them is 30-40 years old but this always has to happen to everything in the world that is living. I bought him and his brother for 20$ but it seems that he has lived a very lonely but happy life because, his brother Snowy died from constaption. :( I have been through this before with his brother. I was crying so much, I left to sit in the truck. I really don't want to experience this agian.

Student Sumit

Last week in Rimu, I got chosen for the Student Sumit. Student Sumit is a time where a lot of schools go to Hornby High to teach others how to use and make stuff on certain websites. I was chosen to be the leader of 1 of the groups that will be there! 1st time I've done this but hopefully I'll see all of my friends from my other school, Wigram Primary School. I think we've got some pretty cool websites. Please give me some feedback on what this is about. Wish me luck!

Lego DJ Volume lights

This design is based on a DJ volume screen where the bars go green-yellow-orange-red. I made this a while ago when I was about 8 or 9 years old. It may be a bit blocky but it can go from being attracted from noise, standard on, strobe, faster strobe and off. here is a picture of it.

It may look like it has really bad lights but that is just because the lights are on in the background. It is a really good way to impress your friends but it was from a set that even I can't remember what it was. You could have a big party with loud music at your house and have this somewhere in the room. If you like this design, please give me some feedback.

Mind Mapping

On Wednesday the 5th, in Rimu we have a new inquiry topic called "A Waste Of Time". Today we had to make a mind map about a topic that they chose for the whole group. We could either do it in pairs or by ourselves. I chose to work with my friend Toby D. The group's topic was land pollution. Here is my mind map.

My writing was in the blue and Toby's was the red writing. Those were all my drawings on the sides. A mind map is similar to information web but you only branch out downwards not to the sides. If you know more about this, please give me some feedback.

My Physical Activity Leader badge! (PAL)

On Thursday at Assembly, the teachers were giving out badges for several things & one of them was PAL badge. Physical Activity Leader. And I got one! I don't know what I'm supposed to do but I think that I have to play some games with some of the little kids at the break times. It's a nice badge and it's my first as well and I'm super happy with my self though. I guess I'll just do what I have to do which I don't know what to do. LOL.

My Little Pig, Blackie

Today the teacher made us blog so I thought "what better subject than to do it on my Guinea Pig Blackie" Yes, I do have a pet guinea pig. used to have 2 named, Snowy & Blackie. Snowy was a white albino & Blackie was just, well...black. Snowy died from a sad fate but it was from constipation. That is when you can't poop for a while. So anyway. He is a happy little pig but mom won't buy another for him to have a friend to play with. They used to play tag by running around some boxes chasing each other. We love and cherish him so much, we hope that he stays with us forever.

Eco Drop/Sort/Store

On Wednesday, Rimu class went on an Eco trip for our next inquiry topic. We almost couldn't go because there were no parent helpers but luckiliy my Mom came with us.(Thx Mom!) We had to as a group had to brainstorm of wich order the 5 R's go in. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Recover, Residual Disposal. Then we had to sort out the trash pile in order to understand what the machinery works. After that, we had to find what would be free to put into the dump. Then we had to buy things for $500 at the Eco Store. There was a lot to choose from in the shop. Me & Kade bought a computer mouse but no actual computer. LOL. Ohh & also I smuggled a sticker for my Mom. Here are some pics from the trip.

Speech Competition

This week in Rimu class, we have been working hard on our Speeches. We have all been super co-operative towards our work. Here is my speech >

All though I didn't get through, I still had fun writing. It also seems that this year is just global warming all the way. If interested, you should probably join Greenpeace to prevent things like this happening.

Building Tiny Houses!

This week in Rimu was maths week! For maths week, we had to make a tiny house with area & perimeter. We had a draft of the house so we had an idea for the design. There was mini furniture, a roof, walls, a door, and windows. I even got an award yesterday for all the minor little details that I had made. I made such a cool house with brick walls, which was going to be wooden, a chimney, windows with bushes, and textured grass!

I am really proud of all the effort that I put into this house.

 It's not maths week without math, is it? We had some area & perimeter. Say if I had a shape that would be a 2x3 shape, that would be the area. The perimeter is when we add all the sides together, it would be 3+3+2+2 which equals 10. Try this at home and have some fun! Maybe get some parent help with the scissors.

Teachers On Strike!

Teachers all across NZ are on a strike for a better payment on Wednesday 15th August 2018.

What is a strike? A strike is "a refusal to work organized by a body of employees as a form of protest, typically in an attempt to gain a concession or concessions from their employer." 

So what do teachers want? There's at least 3000 Christchurch teachers calling for a 16 percent pay rise over two years, and improved working conditions.

Why do they want it? Teachers don`t get payed enough for what they do because of the long hours they work and how it affects their life. People who`d like to be a teacher wouldn't because the pay is too low. So that means that there won't be any new teachers for the future.

I think that teachers should get payed fairly and get more time to spend with their families.

The Christchurch Brick Show!

This year at the CBS 2018, we have been building for the last month or so to pull off these amazing creations for the show on Sat 14th-Sun 15th of July. I had made the very first model that I'd never destroyed for a show! this may have only made this in 2-3 weeks for this to be built but, I'm still proud of myself! Give me some feedback on what I've made & check out my school blog.

T3 Math DLO

It's T3 already?!? Well in Rimu 2018 we've been answering some very hard questions this week. there were even algebra questions in the slide! Here is all of the work I have done! The Red writing is my answers to the questions. What it means that start from Yellow to Blue to Orange is to start from the lowest level to the highest level.

My T2 Reflection

This is the 3rd term I have been at this school and I just did my T2 Refection on the last day of school! Check it out below!

This term what worked well for me was that I have had several tests that went well in

results because I moved up in some things but not others.

What I am proud of this term is that my Mom and I set some goals for me and this term, and if I completed those goals, I would get something like for example, a Lego set which I am getting for this term.

I have shown my YMS HERO qualities by receiving HERO cards for being a
Healthy Individual, an Enthusiastic Learner, a Responsible Citizen, and an
Open-Minded Explorer throughout the years I have stayed.

There are some things that haven’t gone well for me such as being told off, ignoring the
Teachers, behavior form, not getting my full HERO reward times because I didn’t finish
my work in the time given.

Through this term, pretty much everything was a challenge for me. Because I have not
been doing my long writes for a while means that the long writes that will be set won’t
be finished in time, but I did get through them eventually.

My focus for next term will probably be to finish all my work in time to get my full
HERO reward duration and work o getting more HERO cards.

YMS Certificate!

Today was the first time I have ever gotten a HERO card certificate at my new school, YMS! 20 points for me!

My Not So Well Newspaper Article

This week in Rimu, we have had to write Newspaper articles. The reason my article wasn't so good is because all of the text-boxes weren't working by the words coming up behind the actual text-box. Here is what mine looks like..., so far.

I had thought that it would be a good idea to restart the chromebook fully but all my progress was deleted. :(
as for me, (sigh) I had to restart not remembering what I had previously wrote. I still tried my best but I coudn't complete the rest of the article in time. Please give me some feedback on what you think of my article.

Measurements L4

Do you know what the angles on a straight line add up to? I didn't
either but now I do. The angles on a straight line add up to 180
degrees. That's what I have learnt from these questions.
 
If not, try to figure these questions out. I found them really
difficult to figure out so this might take a while. If you get stuck,
you can always get help from your parents or siblings at home.
I found it easyer to do it on pen & paper.

Digi Awards 2018!?!

When I was at my old school, we didn't do Digi awards but here at YMS we do and I had absolutely no idea what that is. So don't blame me. I'm still learning what it is but here is what me and Ian are doing for our creative image for the category, "Dream Big". To stop Global Warming.
